This is a reminder to all health care practitioners. Effective 5/11/09 House Bill 509 changed the requirements for prescription orders by Physican Assistants (PA). PAs are no longer required to include the following language on their prescription orders: "This prescription authorized through: (M.D. or D.O.) by (the physican's assistant) PHYSICIAN'S ASSISTANT".  However, the prescription must still contain the name, address, and telephone number of the prescribing, supervising, or alternate supervising physician.
