Director: Michael Karnbach, Pharm. D.
Michael Karnbach is the Director of the Georgia Drugs and Narcotics Agency (GDNA). In this role, he leads the state agency responsible for enforcing the laws, rules, and regulations of controlled substances, dangerous drugs, and pharmacy practice. Karnbach served as the agency's Deputy Director for six years and as a Special Agent for fourteen years. He received his peace officer’s certification in 2004 from the Georgia Peace Officer’s Standards Training (POST) Council and various instructor certifications over his career. Karnbach earned his doctorate in pharmacy from Mercer University School of Pharmacy in 2003 and has worked as a pharmacist in numerous roles. He was appointed Director of the Georgia Drugs and Narcotics Agency on December 1, 2024, where he serves today.
