Director: Dennis M. Troughton Sr., Pharm. D, R.PH.
Mr. Troughton graduated in 1986 Magna Cum Laude with a Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from Mercer University Southern School of Pharmacy where he was a member of Rho Chi and Phi Kappa Phi Honor Societies. He received his pharmacist license from the Georgia Board of Pharmacy in 1986. He worked in retail pharmacy until 1998, which included seven years as owner of Professional Pharmacy in Kennesaw, GA.
He was hired as a Special Agent with the Georgia Drugs and Narcotics Agency in 1998. Where he earned his Georgia Peace Officers (POST) Certification in March of 1999. He was awarded the Academic Award for Excellence for POST Training 153rd Session.
Mr. Troughton returned to private pharmacy practice in 2004 managing Piedmont Apothecary in Georgia. He also served as the general manager for Kindred Pharmacy Services in Norcross, GA for three years between 2005 and 2008. He returned as a Special Agent with Georgia Drugs and Narcotics Agency in 2008. He was appointed to Deputy Director of the Georgia Drugs and Narcotics Agency in April 2010.
He was appointed to Director of the GA Drugs and Narcotics starting September 1, 2017 where he serves today.
